A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 28, 2015 at New Garden Friends Meeting Cemetery, 801 New Garden Rd., in Greensboro. The family will receive friends on Friday evening November 27, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel.
Jimmy was born in Guilford County on October 25, 1943 to the late Almer McKinley and Irma McCollum Johnson. He lived the same area of Monticello most of his life. He attended Monticello School, worked for Cone Mills, was a carpenter, a farmer, a farrier, a hunter, and could fix almost anything. Jimmy loved his family, friends, his farm, and playing Bluegrass and Gospel music with his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Martha Knight Johnson of the home; sister, Geraldine Carter; brothers, Lee and his wife Bobbie, Larry and his wife Joan, and Bobby and his wife Patricia; mother-in-law, Sara M. Knight; and lots of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many friends who helped Jimmy over the years during his illness. They would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Keith Willis, Dr. Michael Mattlingly, and Deneece Dillard for their care and concern.
