Howard Leon Kirkman Jr.

Howard Leon Kirkman, Jr. passed away, with his wife by his side, at his home in Greensboro, NC on Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was born December 16, 1949 in Greensboro, and was predeceased by his parents; Howard Leon Kirkman, Sr. and Catherine Wade Kirkman. Leon was a graduate of UNCG. He retired after a long career with the IRS, and 18 years ago, began his private practice as a CPA. During that time, using his expertise and love for others, he dedicated himself to helping many in his community.

He loved playing softball, reading tax law, working on his old truck and tractor, and being outdoors. He especially cherished the countless hours he spent traveling with his wife, Yolanda. Leon’s greatest source of pride was his family. He treasured each and every member, including Yolanda’s family, whom he loved as his own.

Surviving are his wife; Yolanda Caballero Kirkman, of the home. His children; Jamie Kirkman and husband Robert, Leon Kirkman, III and wife Michelle, Joey Kirkman and wife Lindsay, Joshua Kirkman and wife Jessie. His sister and brothers; Suzette K. Pressley, Paul Kirkman and wife Anita, Jonathan Kirkman and wife Dianne, Kevin Kirkman and wife Shelley. His grandchildren; Mark, Derek, Tiffany, Adam, Savannah, Brittni, Bentley, and Macey. His great-grandchildren; Mariah, Adrianne, Tristan, Rylee, and Kaidence.

A Service to Celebrate Leon’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Living Way Church, 4433 Rehobeth Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406.

The family requests that memorials be made in Leon’s memory to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405, or to the Sanctuary House, 518 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27410.
