Hilda was born December 7, 1929, in Chatham County, to the late Arthur and Nora Phillips. Hilda’s life was dedicated to her church, family, and her friends. She always had a smile on her face and her spirit was contagious. She will be greatly missed.
She graduated high school in Bonlee, NC and retired from Sears in Greensboro. She and Jack lived in towns across the state through his job with the NC Highway Patrol. She was a member of Lindley Park Baptist Church and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Greensboro Oasis Shrine Club

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Evans Moore; son, Douglas Evans Moore; son-in-law, William Leslie (Mans) McLeod, Jr.; brothers Jack, Wayne, and Taft; and sister Bobbie Webster. Survivors include her son, Phil Moore and wife, Mary Mac, of Greensboro; daughter Carole McLeod, of Charlotte; daughter-in-law Cathy Christopher; grandchildren, Molly Norris, Phillip Moore, Anna McLeod, Will McLeod, Jaclyn Szapacs, and Parker Moore; great-grandchildren, Campbell Norris and Nicholas Szapacs; sister Joyce Stone; and brother Jimmy Phillips.
A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, September 20th at Lindley Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lindley Park Baptist Church (4010 Walker Ave. Greensboro, NC 27403), Hospice of Charlotte (1420 E. 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28204), or the charity of the donor’s choice.
