Greensboro - Herman Crump was born November 23, 1933 in Greensboro, NC to the late Ruth Coddell Crump. After a life of sharing and caring he peacefully made his transition into eternal life on April 2, 2015 at his home.
Herman was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School class of 1953. He was a retiree of Sherwin Williams Paint Company where he worked for over 32 years. He was a dedicated and hard worker who was always on the job.
He was a long and active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities until his health began to fail. He had a great devotion and love for his church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and as aTrustee. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, Senior Choir, Gospel Choir and Male Chorus.
Herman loved sports. He was an avid fan of the Carolina Tarheels, Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics. He enjoyed laughing and spending time with his family. He loved to work in his yard especially in the spring. He enjoyed bowling and often bragged about his bowling game.
He was preceded in death by his mother; wife, Virgie Goins Crump, son, Jimmy W. Crump, daughter-in-law, Althea Crump, two brothers, Billy Crump and Jerry Crump; and a sister, Jo Marie Crump. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Rodney; daughters, Sharon (Lewis), Sharal (Anthony); grandchildren Jasmine, Zachary, and Rashad; siblings Bobby Crump and Gail Tillman; Gloria McNeil who was like a daughter, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
