He was born in Moore County on August 2, 1941 to the late Ellis and Zella Williams. On October 15, 1961, he married the love of his life, Carol Ann Davis and they enjoyed 53 loving years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Sean Freeman. Philip is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Williams of the home; sisters, Ann (Carlo) Simmons of Candor, NC and Sue (Ronnie) Freeman of Mint Hill, NC; two children, Andy (Ann) Williams of Greensboro, NC and Phylis Williams Hilling of North Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Terry (Lavon) Hines, Kathy (Chris) Youngpeter, Courtney Hilling (John McGarva), Caitlin Hilling and three great grandchildren, Wade Hines, Cayden and Emilynn Youngpeter and a special niece, Kayla Freeman.
In 1961, he graduated Barber School and worked for Lorillard for 33 1/2 years. He enjoyed golf, traveling with his wife and was a fierce Duke fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved and cherished by his family.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Sunday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park.
In lieu of cut flowers arrangements, potted plants would be appreciated or memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
