Gary Wayne Morrison

Gary Wayne “Doodlebug” Morrison, 83, a resident of Jamestown passed away on Monday July 26, 2021 at Beacon Place. He was born June 21, 1938 in the old Edgeville Township of Greensboro the son of John Wakelon and Ruby Hill Morrison.

Gary was a graduate of Bessemer High School. He worked as an upholster for the Otto Zenke Co. and later worked for the Guilford County Sheriff’s Dept. Gary also owned Morrison's Interior Design for over 35 years and served as a member of the Greensboro Police Reserves. Gary also served his country in the Marine Reserves for 10 years. He retired from the City of Jamestown working with the Parks and Recreation Dept. Gary was a High School Football referee for over 35 years. Gary and his wife Pat were members of Gate City Baptist Church.

Gary was married to Patsy “Pat” Lamarr Morrison who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Wayne Morrison on July 13, 2021 and his brother, Richard “Dickie” Elwood Morrison.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele Morrison McGuire and husband Mac of Jamestown; granddaughter, Morgan McGuire and grandsons, Matthew and Mason McGuire and his brother John Wakelon “Wakie" Morrison.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 14, 2021 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Terry Larsen. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
