Fred's passing still hurts. He was one of the finest people I have ever known. I think back to so many fun times with him and his incredible sense of humor and craziness in his younger days. My love and warm thoughts will be forever with Sue and the family

Today marks three years since we lost Fred Starr. Still, I have memories that I hope will last me the rest of my life.
Thanks , Fred, for helping to make my career at Thomasville what it was....and, more importantly, for being a friend.  I miss you!

Dear Sue,

Please accept my sincere sympathy concerning Fred's death even as we celebrate his incredible life of giving to others.  Fred was truly a man for all seasons...ready to cope with any contingency and whose behavior was always appropriate to every occasion as noted by playwright Robert Bolt.

He will be greatly missed. Our deep belief is that he is in heaven in the next life and we believers will join him in due time.

I remember with great fondness my time working at the travel agency with Sue and meeting Fred.  He was a lovely, kind man.  My deepest condolences to Sue and the family.  

Dear Sue and family:

Gloria and I will attend Fred's memorial service on Friday, but, due to an out-of-town trip beginning on Friday afternoon, we will be unable to attend the reception at Sedgefield.

Please know how much and how positively, Fred influenced my life and career. We worked together for 25 years, and we gained mutual respect for one another through those years.
I will always miss having Fred to be there when I needed advice, or just wanted to be with him when we were doing some of the great things we did while working together at Thomasville.
I hope in my career that I was able to influence a few people with some of the good things Fred taught me about leading people and influencing outcomes for the better. He was truly a great leader...but , more importantly, for me, he was a great friend!

Fred was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. I can still hear his wonderful laugh. He seemed to be a friend to everyone he met.

I only heard of Mr Starr's passing this past week.  As a green and naive furniture professional that I was in 1992, I meet him at the Thomasville showroom where he sat with me at lunch.  He was genuinely interested in my opinion of Thomasville and the furniture industry.  
At the end of the conversation, I politely asked him, what his role with Thomasville was, to only find out he was the President of the company.  I was impressed that no matter who anyone was in the business, he was genuinely interested in you.  
That's a lesson that has stayed with me throughout my entire career.  To be genuine, to welcome opinions and to take the time to talk to everyone.  Thank you Mr Starr for your impact on my career.  My condolences to his family.  He was a wonderful person.

Fred always made EVERYONE feel SPECIAL. He was such a bright light  in our lives. We will miss him ALWAYS  and remember his WONDERFUL smile.

What a sad day. Fred was one of my best friends at Trinity. I remember when he met Sue whom we all fell in love with. We were co MCs at our 50th  reunion and spent a lot of time together. To Sue and the family-Fred was simply one of the best people on this earth. Smart, funny and loyal. I will miss him very much-just knowing he was there. My heartfelt love and condolences to the family.

My condolences and prayers for Sue, the children and grandchildren and all the family. I worked at Thomasville Furniture in the office  for a total of 47 years until I  retired in 2014. I  was there for the best of times. Fred was a great leader and cared for the company and the employees.  He was always willing to listen to any employee's concerns and respectfully respond and try to help. Under his guidance we were like a family and loved our jobs. He will be missed just as he was when he left Thomasville. 

I just wanted to express my thoughts and prayers to the Starr family.  I knew Fred thru the Sedgefield C.C. and community, where my mother still resides.  I worked at the golf shop as a teenager and saw him often. He was always kind, thoughtful and a true gentleman to all. The Tedder Family send their Love and Prayers during this time of grief.
