Ms. Evelyn Yvonne “Bonnie” Thornlow, 75, died at Greensboro Retirement Center on June 26, 2015. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born in Guilford County to the late Frank and Evelyn Pepper Thornlow. She completed some schooling but due to a childhood illness she experienced life through somewhat a different perspective than others. Evelyn found fulfillment in a simple and happy life and expressed herself through her beautiful artwork. She was a creative and talented spirit and participated in art and craft classes with her mother at Lewis Center in Greensboro. Evelyn appreciated bright exquisite colors she saw in pictures and nature. She enjoyed roller skating, music and had a great sense of humor. Evelyn was a member of Asheboro Street and Friendly Avenue Baptist Churches most of her life.
She has been a resident at Greensboro Retirement Center for approximately ten years and her family would like to thank the owners and staff for their attentive care of Evelyn during her residency.
Evelyn is survived by her sister and husband, Jean and Bill Owen of Greensboro; nephews, Andy Owen, Rob and Bart Wood; grandniece Brittany Todd, grandnephew Brandon Todd; great grandnieces, October and Kailiah and great grandnephew, Roaryan. She is preceded in death by her niece, Dawn Owen Minor and sisters, Joan Thornlow and Mary Ann Wood.
