Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 with the Reverend David Partington officiating.
Evelyn was born March 2, 1925 in Greenville, NC, to the late Jonathan W. Foley and Evelyn Woodall Foley. She was raised in Greenville, attending East Carolina Teachers College and the Medical College of Virginia where she graduated with a degree in nursing.
While in nursing school she met her future husband, John A. Moore, M.D. In 1954, they moved to Greensboro, NC, where he began his medical practice. Evelyn was active in many community and charitable activities. She loved being around children and taught third grade Sunday school for many years at First Presbyterian Church. She was an active volunteer and board member at The Greensboro Cerebral Palsey and Orthopedic School, now Gateway Education Center. Evelyn loved to read, and she particularly enjoyed her long time membership in the Reviewers Book Club.
Above all she was a loving and warm wife, mother and grandmother to her family, who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Moore, and her brother Jack Foley. She is survived by her brother Milton Foley and his wife Suzanne of Tampa, Florida, her daughter Nancy Moore, son John Moore and his wife Trish, all of Greensboro, and her grandchildren Ginger Moore of Raleigh and Jack Moore of Chapel Hill.
Special thanks go to the caring staff at the Arboretum at Heritage Greens for their care during her two years there and especially during these last few months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music ministry at First Presbyterian Church, 617 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401.
