Miss Eunice Jeanettie Pitts, a resident of Adams Farm Nursing Center died Friday December 3, 2010. Miss Pitts was born January 3, 1917 in Guilford County a daughter of Ermin Eugene and Eleanora Elizabeth Edwards Pitts. She was employed for over 25 years with Burlington Industries before retiring.
Eunice was active in her church, a great letter writer, people loved to receive letters from her. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working puzzles; she also loved baking pies, her special was apple and enjoyed baking cakes for her church.
She was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church where she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Oliver Ermin “Jack” Pitts who died during WWII over the South Pacific while serving with the U.S. Marine Corp.
Surviving are two sisters, Mabel Shields of Greensboro, Dorothy Hall of Jamestown; one brother, Raymond Pitts and wife Bessie of Greensboro; numerous nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, conducted by the Reverend Lauren Richardson and the Reverend Dr. Boyd Holliday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
