Ellavay Brown

A celebration of Ellavay’s life will be held at Gate City Baptist Church Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm, Reverend Mike Owens will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm; one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Ellavay was born in Guilford County on November 11, 1923 to the late Clifton A. and Josephine Brown. She worked as a clerk at Sears Roebuck for more than nineteen years. She then moved to Topsail Island for nineteen years and later returned to Greensboro to be with her family.

She was a member of Gate City Baptist Church where she was active with the youth and making the programs for services. Ellavay loved animals especially her cats. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister and Aunt. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, J. R. Brown, Thurman Brown, Arthur Brown and Douglas Hutchinson; two sisters, Mary Brown and Rachel McCloud. Ellavay is survived by five nieces and two nephews.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers, especially Lillian and Bessie.
