Ed was born on August 7, 1931 in Clinton, North Carolina to the late Preston R. Bradsher and Catherine Powell Bradsher. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He met Virginia Bass in 1955 and they were married in Louisburg, NC in 1957. Ed was a life-long resident of Greensboro, NC, having moved here in 1955 and joined Strand Skees Jones as accountant, and then worked at WH Sullivan as Controller. He finally joined R.J. Reynolds as an accountant, from which he retired. Upon retirement, he established his construction firm, JEB Construction, which he ran with his son, Michael Bradsher until he permanently retired in 2009.
Ed was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, having served as an Elder and a Deacon, and was an active member of his Sunday School class until Covid closed the class. He served on numerous committees and was an active volunteer for the church, and was a regular member of the Men’s morning coffee group for many years. He also served as Troop Leader for his sons’ Boy Scout Troop.
His time in the Navy left him with a life-long love of the water, and Ed enjoyed spending time at the beach, fishing, and sailing. Another passion of his was woodworking, and he made countless gifts for friends and family alike over the years.
But more than anything, he loved his family. His wife Ginny was his life-long partner, and they enjoyed spending time with their ten grandchildren. Their children, David, Michael, Elizabeth and Sarah were his pride and joy, and he loved them all dearly.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Preston and Catherine Bradsher, his brothers Francis Bradsher and William Bradsher and his much-loved son-in-law, Charles Murray Tate, Jr. (Chuck). He is survived by his beloved wife Ginny, sons David and wife Julie, Michael and wife Lora, and daughters Sarah Bradsher Tate and Elizabeth Bradsher Cannady, as well as his grandchildren Max Bradsher, Taylor Bradsher Meyer and husband David Meyer, Berkeley, Madeleine, and James Alexander Bradsher, Charles Tate III, Samuel Tate, and Anderson, Kathryn, and Connor Cannady.
