Earl Wayne Newnam

Earl Wayne Newnam, 78, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House. He was born on January 19, 1938 in Rockingham County, NC, the son of Benford Knight and Gertrude Webb Newnam. He served his country in the US Air Force.

Following his military service, Earl worked with Carolina Freight Lines which became ABF Freight and retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, the Carolina Panthers and the Duke Blue Devils. He played baseball in the Air Force and played semi pro baseball after his military service. Earl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Newnam in 2014 and sister, Nancy Newnam. Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons; Craig Newnam and wife Kim of Randleman, NC, Chris Newnam and wife Melissa of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren; Jacob Newnam of Randleman, NC, Jason Newnam of Archdale, NC, Clif Newnam of Charlotte, NC, Shane and Zoie of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Brenda Oliver of Greensboro, NC and Linda Pallas of Greensboro NC; brother, Steve Newnam and family friend, Montie Boyd.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Barrett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
