Dorothy (Dot) Z. Ferriter passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at the age of 102. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Mary Jarnicki and was one of six children. Dot graduated with honors from Taylor High School and post-graduate school while living in Scranton. She began her career in radio and then worked for GE. She later married and enjoyed living in several states with her husband and children before settling in Greensboro, NC.
Dot retired as Credit Manager from Pomona Pipe Products in Greensboro where she was employed for many decades. Her prior employment was in Schenectady, NY in advertising and radio (Program Assistant and on-air vocalist) and Albany, NY in the Analytical Division of General Electric.
Dot was a member of numerous professional associations and social clubs where she volunteered on several committees. She was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America; Cub Scouts Division and served as a Den Mother for many years for Pack 230, Dens 1 and 2.
In later years, she was a representative to The Shepherd Center for her church (Irving Park United Methodist Church) and enjoyed many activities with her church group, The Keenagers. She enjoyed music, reading, dancing with The Carolinians, writing, theatre, golf, and baking. She was an outstanding cook but baking was her passion. Known for her pound cake, cheese cake and cookies, her stuffed cabbages and veggie bars were equally coveted. She loved to travel and she and her husband, Phil, loved golf tournaments, beach vacations and cruises.
Dot was a compassionate, encouraging and loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived by her faith in God and believed that God is our only judge and that we should not judge each other. Her favorite daily prayer was PROVERBS 3: 5-8. She cherished her many friendships and the close friendships with her neighbors. The love and care her family and friends gave her throughout the years was important to her and she expressed her appreciation for this in her final days. We will miss her great sense of humor and the joy she brought to so many.
