Deborah “Debbie” Mae Free Frye, 47, of Greensboro, departed from this life on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a three plus years battle with a rare and aggressive breast cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Rev. Mark Weekley officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Born in Thomasville, May 15th, 1964, Debbie graduated from Smith High School and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She worked for Guilford College as a Transcript Clerk. Debbie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She loved to cook and spending time at the beach. The family morns the loss of this loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She may have lost the battle but she won the final fight to be free from this ugly disease. Debbie never complained one time about her cancer, her only worry was for her family. She was a true inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her work on earth is done, but now she can continue her awesome and positive ways with God. Her big beautiful smile will be missed and always treasured. Her family loved her more than anything and she will forever be in their hearts.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Stewart Frye, Jr. of the home; children, Jonathan David Kamoda, Stewart Eugene Frye III and his wife Kelly, and Elizabeth Noel Frye, all of Greensboro; Dad, Charles Leon Free and his wife Brenda; her mom, Irma Hodges; and her two grandchildren, Gavin Alexander Frye and Landon Bradley Frye.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 pm Thursday evening, April 5, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care at Greensboro, or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
To honor Debbie, the family requests that everyone attending the funeral service to wear something pink. Not just because that’s the color for breast cancer awareness, but because it was Debbie’s favorite color!
