Charles J. Earnhardt

A funeral service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens.

Charles was born December 28, 1925 in Salisbury, the son of Ray and Pearl Albright Earnhardt.

Charles was a US Marine Corp veteran. He attended Catawba College and later graduated from the Philadelphia Optical College. Charles was the owner of Earnhardt Optical in Greensboro for many years. He was a member of College Place United Methodist Church where he married his wife of 63 years on November 12, 1950. He also volunteered at the church and belonged to the Price and Cornerstone Sunday School Classes. Charles was a former member of the Kiwanis, Elks and Jaycee clubs and volunteered at the Industries for the Blind. He enjoyed woodcarving and gardening.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son Bradley and his sister Rachel Grove.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian Earnhardt; daughter, Louise E. Spence (Royall III) of Greensboro; son, Jeff Earnhardt of Delray Beach, FL, and grandson, Royall Spence IV (Jessica) of Greensboro.

Friends will be received Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
