Bryan Wann Thigpen

July 15, 1942-May 23, 2023.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan Wann Thigpen of Greensboro, NC, who departed from our lives on May 23rd, at the age of 80.

Bryan graduated from Page High School in 1960 and soon became an exceptional purchasing agent for Dillard Paper Company. He worked his entire career in the paper industry, eventually retiring from Atlantic Packaging. He earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike. His free time was spent on the golf course, tennis court, in the movie theater, bowling alley, casinos and taking road trips.

Bryan married his best friend and wife, Carolyn in 1988. They each came with 4 children and created an amazing blended family. Bryan was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, coworker, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, Lena Wann Thigpen (mother), Charles Harry Thigpen (father), and Reginald Keith Thigpen (brother). He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Carolyn McPherson Thigpen, as well as his children, Robin Thigpen Gailey (Ken), grandchildren Zachary & Emily, Gregory Scott Thigpen (Lisa), grandchildren Grady & Nicole, Jennifer Thigpen Budo, grandson Justin, Sherri Leigh Childress (Travis), grandchildren Shelby & Dakota, blended family Randy Watson (Jan), grandchildren Jenna & Joseph, Melanie Christian, grandchildren Cade & Cole, Cathy Bledsoe, grandchildren Michael, Madison & Grace, Jaime Stinson; 3 siblings, Laura Strader (Bud), Anne Renshaw, Donna Hale (Trip), brother-in-law Jerry McPherson and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family and friends.

The service will be held on Saturday June 3rd at 11am at Hanes Lineberry, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. The family will be accepting visitors at 10am. Please join us to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.
