Billie Vawter Gladwell

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Westover Church on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Friends will be received following the service at the church.

Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Charles, who affectionately called her Billie Grey. Also preceding her in death are parents, Walter Ray and Roxie Jessie Vawter, and sister, Tinnie Festerman.

Surviving is son Chuck; daughter, Theresa Williams (Mike); grandchildren Michael (Tori), Mitch (Courtney) & Matt (Kyoko) Williams; Annelise Ransone (Lucas), David & Jacob; great grandchildren, Avery Williams and Caleb & Cassidy Williams and Luci Ransone. Also surviving are brother Ray Vawter and sister Jo Ann Lasker, along with many nieces and nephews.

Billie was born and raised in Reidsville, NC. She began playing the piano in church at the age of 10 and continued to do so for 50 years. After high school she began working at Sears as a secretary where she met Charles. A year later they married. In 1968 she started working with Charles in his new business, Gladwell Insurance Agency, where she worked until recently. She enjoyed working and loved helping her clients.

Billie loved her Lord, husband, family and friends. She will be missed greatly.
