

Barbara Stum Hyatt, 79, of Greensboro, NC passed away at Atrium Health on April 18, 2025. Barbara was born in Cumberland County, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents Florence Faye Cooper and Russell Ernest Stum, and sister Virginia Stum Heffner of Georgia.
Barbara worked for the City of Greensboro for 32 years doing payroll, and 28 years at the Greensboro Coliseum. Barbara was adored by her family and was very outgoing. She loved the mountains and beach but she mostly loved spending time with family and grandkids. Whether it was at Sky Valley, the NC Coast, Disney Theme Parks and cruises, Universal Studios and most recently her first Chicago marathon experience to see her granddaughter run the Chicago 5k. She believed in making the most out of life experiences. She made it a point to always be at all sporting events and games for her grandkids.
Surviving family members are her husband of 32 years Ricky Allen Hyatt, brother Richard Stum (Faurest), children Shawn Hyatt (Katie), brother-in-law Gus Heffner, 2 grandchildren (Jacey and Mason) and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Atrium Health Cancer Center or Cancer Research Foundations of your choice.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Atrium Health, Dr Harish and especially the RNs Kenneth and Heather, for Barbara's care in her final days.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Burial services will be private.
