Ann Thompson Loflin passed away at Friends Homes at Guilford on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the age of 98. Ann will be dearly missed, and her memory cherished by numerous loving nephews, nieces, their families, extended family, and longtime friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Loflin, her parents Shufford Arthur Thompson and Rosa Belle Barnes Thompson. Her siblings included her half-sisters Lula Edwards and Esther Vickers; her sisters Betty Jean Thompson, Jamesina Hollingsworth, Marybelle Murrell, Bernice Cave; and her brothers Herbert Thompson and Raeford Thompson.
A longtime resident of High Point, NC, Ann graduated from Jamestown High School in Guilford County. She was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church and dedicated many years of service to her church and its ministries. She was given an Honorary Life Membership from Presbyterian Women by the Presbyterian Church (USA). She received a Certificate of Appreciation for volunteering at the Guilford Interfaith Hospitality Network. Ann worked at National Upholstery for 20 years. Her quick decision-making skills and attention to detail were evident in her work at Braxton Culler Furniture from 1975-1995.
Ann demonstrated her love to family, neighbors, and friends as only she could do by knowing how to make them feel loved and appreciated. She enjoyed birthday celebrations, special family events, and time with her friends. She helped care for her husband, parents, and sisters during their illnesses and final days. Ann also loved to work outdoors. She had a small yard, but it was filled with fruit vines and trees, and vegetables. She grew up in the depression and therefore loved to collect especially jewelry, clothes, and anything purple. She loved animals, and the two at Friends Home gave her comfort and joy. Ann had a special God-given personality that kept people smiling and laughing. Ann spent a lifetime making a difference in the lives of everyone she met.
The visitation for Ann Loflin will be on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial service starting at 11:00 am at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd. Greensboro, NC, 27407.
