Mrs. Alice Welch Long

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Long was of the United Methodist faith. From childhood she was a member of the Welch Sisters Trio who broadcasted live weekly at WBIG on the Restful Music Show and was also instrumental in raising funds for the Greensboro Polio Hospital. She retired from Cone Mills with 45 years of service in the payroll department. After retirement, she worked for Stanley Accounting. She enjoyed traveling and loved shopping. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. Welch, Sr. and Pearl McDonald Welch, and her husband of 39 years, Theodore A. Long.

Mrs. Long is survived by her sisters, Hilda W. Shelton of Randleman, Lucille W. Wrenn of Suwanee, Georgia, brother, Frank L. Welch, Jr. and wife, Beverly of Virginia Beach, VA, 2 nieces and 4 nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215.

The family will receive friends in the parlor at Lakeview following the service.
