A funeral service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Pleasant Union United Methodist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, Adam was a graduate of Southeast Guilford High School. He was a member of the Marching Band, the Jazz Band, and the Concert Band playing the Trombone. He was also a member of the Southeast Falcons Swim Team where he placed 1st in Conference, 4th in State and 2nd in Region. Adam was also an Eagle Scout. Adam was a US Navy veteran having been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon and the Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon. He was employed with D&D Enterprises where he was a cell tower technician.
Adam was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lewis Clapp and his uncle, Benny Clapp.
Surviving are his parents Gwynn and Dee Ann Clapp Staley, sister Kellie Zimmerman and her husband Michael, nephew Elijah Zimmerman, half-sister and her husband Angie Becker and Michael, their children Amanda and Christopher Becker, half-sister Amy Staley Dillon, grandmother Mary Clapp, cousin Julie Powell and husband Jay, their son Ethan, cousin Dennis Clapp and his wife Laura, their children Dottie and Ashton Clapp.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Pleasant Union United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
