He was a retired employee of Stokley’s/Quaker.
He was a member of Lord’s Tabernacle Church.
He enjoyed playing his harmonica at church and the nursing home as long as his health permitted.
Survivors include two sisters: Margie Williams, who was a very special sister and caregiver, and Barbara Sentelle, both of Greeneville; three nephews: Thomas Hensley, whom he helped to raise, Timmy Sentelle, and Marlin Tunnell, all of Greene County; four nieces: Reetha Walker of Sevierville, whom he helped to raise, Cora Morgan of Greeneville, Diana Cox of Newport, and Mary Ann Gosnell of Greeneville; several great nieces and great nephews; and three special friends: Robin Shepherd, Bob Walker, and Doris Thompson.
He was the son of the late Sam Elbert and Rosetta Hensley and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hensley, one brother, Elbert Sam Hensley, and two sisters, Geneva Pearl Hensley and Vina Hensley Tunnell.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The body will remain at Kiser-Rose Hill until time to be taken to the church for services.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lord’s Tabernacle Church with Rev. Buster Shelton, Rev. Ray Shelton, and Rev. Roger Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow in Shelton Mission Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Harris, Tom West, Bandy Gregg, Bobby Walker, Harley Greene, and Randy Carter.
Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Class of Lord’s Tabernacle Church.
