He retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center after many years of service. He developed numerous friendships while working in the laundry department.
When not at work, he could be found sitting in his front yard, under the hickory tree, whittling, where his community friends and family stopped often for a visit. He also looked forward to eating supper everyday with his sisters Ethel and Gladys.
Sammie is survived by a sister, Gladys Tullock; nieces and nephews as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a special great great niece Macy Kidwell and a great great nephew Talon Kidwell who he loved dearly. Also surviving a sister-in-law, Margaret Tullock, and a special friend and caregiver, Charlie Fellers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Letha Phillips Tullock; his wife, Ruth Hartman Tullock; one sister, Ethel Tullock and three brothers, Howard Tullock, Robert (Reba) Tullock and Harlan (Gertie) Tullock.
A graveside service will be on Wednesday, at 2 pm in Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Clarence Gammill officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Greene County-Greeneville EMS 1027 Forest Street, Greeneville, Tennessee 37745.
