He served in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He was an active member of the Camp Creek Fire Department from 1978-2015 and he was a member of the Camp Creek Ruritan.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Dianna and Mike Appleton of Athens, Alabama; son: Ronnie Lewis Shelton of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Albert and Mary Shelton of Baileyton and Dick and Ruth Shelton of Mosheim; sister: Audrey Bowman of Afton; three granddaughters: Charity Shelton of Erwin, Heath and Caitlin Trantham of Greeneville, and Summer Richards of Greeneville; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend: Marvella Taylor.
He was the son of the late Floyd and Mae June Shelton and was preceded in death by his brothers; Esau Shelton and Pat Shelton; and a sister: Ruby Shelton.
The family would like to thank Caris Hospice and the staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital for the care they had for our Daddy.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, October 21, 2105, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Hopson and Rev. Kevin Shelton officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Camp Creek Fire Department.
