He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Pete served in the U.S. Air Force and was also a farmer. He was a longtime member of Nolichuckey Ruritan Club and served as Board Member of Greene County Farm Bureau for many years.
He is survived by his son, Billy (Dawn) Bowers; his grandchildren, Sarah (Matthew) Peterson and Seth Bowers; sister-in-law, Betty Bowers; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Andrea Bender; and a special friend, Dorothy Glisson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jane Bowers; brothers, Astor Bowers and Auburn Bowers; a sister, Audeane Neas; and a nephew, Lamar Neas.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Willis Bowers will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at 12 pm at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lanny Neas, Kim Neas, Dillon Coakley, Jason Bowers, Kendall Bowers, Brad Bowers, Steven Fullen, and Matthew Peterson.
Honorary pallbearers are L.C. Bowers, Billy Ray Winter, and Rufus Weller.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the amazing staff at Ben Atchley Veteran’s Home in Knoxville, TN as well as his buddies at Cotton’s Store.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James VFD or to St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
