Marie “Anne” Hartman Frye, 77, of Greeneville, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, April 30th, 2024. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Greeneville, TN, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born December 30, 1946, Anne was a native of Greeneville, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Greeneville High School and Tusculum University. In 1983, she and her husband, Tony, opened an independent insurance agency, Frye-Shaffer Insurance, in Bristol, VA, where they worked together until his death in 2011. Anne served on the Blue Springs Historical Association board and many church finance committees throughout her life.
Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family brought her immense joy, and she cherished spending time with them. She also had a soft spot for her dogs, Lazarus and Leah. Anne had a passion for painting and traveling, especially with her family. She loved attending all her grandchildren's events and being their biggest cheerleader.
She is survived by her children: Randall “Randy” and Kelly Frye of Kingsport, TN; Ed and Angela Marie “Angie” (Frye) Shaffer of Knoxville, TN; Randy and Jennifer (Frye) Sheets of Isle of Palms, SC. Her grandchildren: Christian and Lindsay, Conner, Cameron, and Cayden Sheets; Austin and Zachary “Zac” Shaffer; Aaron, Hannah, and Elizabeth “Elise” Marie Frye. Her great-grandchildren Walker, Hadley, and Amelia Marie Sheets. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Hartman Halliburton of Knoxville, TN, nephew, Knathan Halliburton, nieces, Laura Mensch and Carrie Hastings, and several special best friend cousins.
Anne was preceded in death by, and is now reunited with, her beloved husband of 46 years and best friend, Tyrone "Tony" Frye, parents Hervie and Marie Hartman, and brother Hervie Hartman Jr.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Anne’s wonderful caregiver, Ashley Maples, Dr. Ross Nesbit and his amazing team, and Interim Healthcare for the loving care, prayers, and support given to Anne.
Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Randy Sheets and Ed Shaffer, her daughter–in–law, Kelly Frye, her grandchildren, and her special grand friend, Caidy Shaffer.
The family will receive friends 2:00-5:00 PM Wednesday, May 8th at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. The funeral service will then be conducted at 5 PM at the church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
