She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of Carter’s Station at Albany.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Fred Grigsby of Greeneville; sons and daughters-in-law: Neal and Ruth Matthews of Greeneville and Burlin and Jane Matthews of Chuckey; grandchildren: Alice and Jeff Lawson of Mooresburg, Justin and Michelle Matthews of Greeneville, Ashley and Tim Evans of Springfield, Ohio; great grandchildren: Carter Randolph and Tatum Lawson of Mooresburg; sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce Hardin, Judy and Marvin Sellers, and James Morelock, all of Mosheim, and J. W. Bright of Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends: J. C. and Mary Cox.
She was the daughter of the late Jerome and Zella Mae “Betty” Reagan Gregg and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Squeaky” Matthews; a son, William “Billy” Dale Matthews; sisters, Margaret Gregg, Jessie Lou Bright, and Mary Ruth Morelock; and a brother, Thomas “Tot” Gregg.
The family will receive friends 3-7 pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm Thursday, March 27, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Long officiating.
Interment will be at 11 am Friday at Mosheim Central Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 am Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carter Randolph, Tommy Gregg, Steve Gregg, Bobby Gregg, Danny Gregg, Sammy Hardin, Phil Hardin, and Jimmy Morelock.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Laughlin Health Care Center, the staff of Amedisys Hospice, and Dr. Phillip Thwing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
