Larry Urban departed to be face-to-face with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday at Takoma Regional Hospital. He was born January 27, 1940, in Topeka, KS, to Albert and Isabelle Urban. After graduating high school in Arvada, CO, he graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He began his career in Houston, TX, where he met his wife and started his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and two children: daughter, Dr. Laura Urban Ritter (Michael) of Greeneville; and son Michael Urban (Reneé) and grandson Devon of Asheville, NC; brother Steve Urban (Kathy) of Reno, NV; brother-in-law Dr. Coy Stone (Georgia) of Greeneville; sister-in-law Leah Stone of Greenwood, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry believed in Christ alone for salvation and loved the systematic study of God’s Word under his pastor, Col. Robert Thieme, Jr., who taught from the original languages. He was an associate member of Berachah Church (Houston) for 48 years. His family is assured from God’s promises that as believers in Christ, we will be together forever in Heaven. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” (Ps. 116:15)
There will be no visitation or formal services.
