He retired from Greene County Bus Garage after 28 years of service.
Mr. Waddell was of the Church of God faith.
He loved baseball, was an avid farmer until his health declined. He was a man who could fix anything, even if he didn’t have a part to fix it with, he would make it. He loved growing garden and sharing the bounty with friends and neighbors. The love of his life was his grandchildren, but above all: God.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Shirley Ricker Waddell; son: Jeff Waddell; daughter and son-in-law: Yvonne and Paul Renner; grandchildren: Joshua Iwin Waddell, Chelsea Renner, Kylie Renner; very special friends of the family: Becky Summey, Mike, Julia, Heath, and Rachel Crum; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Belle Collins, Inez and Ronald Humphreys, Clara and R.B. Humphreys, and Barbara Fox; brother and sister-in-law: Kyle and Vickie Waddell; former sister-in-law: Joyce Carter; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Vernie and Pearl Waddell; brother: Cloyd Waddell; and sister and brother-in-law: Betty and James Rowe Fillers; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Collins and Ronnie Fox; and a nephew: Wendall Humphreys.
The family will receive friends from 11am-1:30pm Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, a Graveside Service will be held at 2pm at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Fillers and Rev. Willis Bowers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brian Fillers, Phillip Waddell, Danny Humphreys, Vincent Fox, Richie Humphreys, Gary Collins, Joshua Waddell, and Paul Renner.
