Mr. Thacker was a member of Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
He retired as an employee of Eastman after 30 plus years of service.
He enjoyed going to the YMCA to work out and play basketball with his friends there. He was an avid sports fan. He loved all sports at UT, with his priority on UT football. He was also a fan of the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees.
Survivors include his son: David Bradford Thacker of Afton; daughter and son-in-law: Felisha and Shawn Jaynes of Limestone; two grandchildren: Shawna Jaynes and Rebecca Jaynes; sister and brother-in-law: Carol and Grover Gosnell; two nephews: John Allen Barham and wife Heather of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jason Barham and wife Jessica of Maryville, Tennessee; several great nieces and great nephews and numerous cousins; special friend: Karen Compton; and a longtime childhood friend: Steve Farris.
He was the son of the late Harold and Mildred Brown Thacker.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Raymond Perry officiating.
Interment will be at 1:00 pm Monday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 12 Noon Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Barham, Dale Perry, Raymond Perry, John Liese, Tony Roe, and Jimmy Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers are John Allen Barham, Shawn Jaynes, George Manis, Crew I and II at Eastman, and Tom Thacker.
