He retired from Pet Ice Cream and real estate.
Mr. Tullock was a member of Bridges Chapel Church of God.
He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Gertie Tullock. He was a great father, not only to his two daughters, Joy and Judy, but also to his grandchildren. He and Gertie would have celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary on September 26th this year. He was instrumental in building the Bridges Chapel Church of God and Pavilion on the Kingsport Highway. He developed several subdivisions in Greeneville and Greene County. He was a well-known and respected businessman. He was always available to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. He never met a stranger and always put a smile on people’s faces. One of his last projects that he enjoyed was the building of his campground. He would sit for hours and enjoy his friends and family. He leaves a lasting legacy of life that will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Gertie Smith Tullock; two daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Hal Mueller and Joy and Pee Wee West; grandchildren and spouses: Shane and Maria Renner, Chris and Andrea Renner, Crystal and Neal Parrish, Brian and Kerry Ellenburg, Brad and Jana Ellenburg; great grandchildren: Clay, Maddie, and Waylon Renner, Abby and Ollie Renner, Mason and Tambryn Ellenburg; step grandchildren: Cori Morris, Cassie Branstorm, Megan Supcoe, and Zoie Garner; step great grandchildren: Eamon and Iain Morris, and Annika Branstorm; step great-great grandchild: Chance Tyler Supcoe; sister: Gladys Tullock; brother: Sammy Tullock; special sister-in-law: Margaret Tullock; sister-in-law: Ruth Tullock; and brother-in-law: J.G. Smith.
He was preceded in death by a son: Bobby Joe Tullock; parents: Robert and Letha Tullock; two brothers: Junior Tullock and Howard Tullock; one sister: Ethel Tullock; and two brothers-in-law: Johnny Bill Smith and Homer Ray Smith.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-8pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1pm Monday, September 8, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bobby Sams and Rev. Clarence Gammill officiating.
Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Troy and Jamie Griffith, Kim Taylor, Tracy and Stephanie, the staff of Caris Hospice, Dr. Joe Austin and staff, Rev. Ridley, Lavane Kimery, and George Dunn.
