Deborah Charlene Hensley

September 4, 1954 – December 21, 2022

Charlene Hensley of Mosheim, Tennessee passed away at her home at the age of 68. She was a lifelong resident of Greene County living in Greeneville, the South Greene Community and the last three decades in Mosheim where she lived with her loving husband, Owen Hensley, Jr.

Throughout her life, Charlene worked at a number of places including Magnavox, Greeneville Oil and Greene Valley Developmental Center. She married Owen on December 31, 1986 while he was working for the Greene County School System. Former School Superintendent, James Parham married them in a private ceremony.

Owen’s children, Clayton and Rachel quickly became an important part of Charlene’s life and both have always loved her as a “mom.” Throughout the decades, there would be several family trips to the beach, the Smoky Mountains and weekends at places like Norris Dam State Park. Prior to marrying Owen, Charlene was also a “mom” to two special people in her life, Anthony and Donovon Pruitt. Although she never had children of her own, Charlene never missed her opportunity to be a loving mother or a doting grandmother.

Charlene was preceded in death by her mother Barbara (Hale) Helbert of South Greene.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 36 years, Owen Hensley of Mosheim; father Charles Helbert of South Greene; her brother Gary Helbert (Janice) of Greeneville; son Clayton Hensley (Melinda) of Clinton; daughter Rachel Hensley of Greeneville, and sons Anthony and Donovon Pruitt of Greene County.

Charlene also leaves behind her grandson Will Hensley of Ames, IA, granddaughter Hazel Hensley of Clinton, and Emerson Hensley of Greeneville.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 28th from 10:00 am until Noon at Kiser – Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville. Following the visitation there will be a brief graveside service at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, with Rev. Buster Shelton officiating.

Pallbearers are James Davis, Dallas Hughes, Jose Cruz, Miguel Cruz, Jonathan Lane and Anthony Pruitt.
