Mr. Shelton was a retired real estate investor.
He was of the Baptist tradition of faith.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Margie and Tom Bateman of Avon Park, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law: David L. and Lisa Church of Greeneville, and Robert Paul Armitage and Rena Brooks of Greeneville; his grandchildren: Ryan Reaves, Taylor Church, Brock Church, and Megan Brooks, all of Greeneville, and Justyn Rimer and Angela Bateman, both of Avon Park; his father: William David "Red" Shelton of Greeneville; a sister: Ginger Calvwell of Georgia; three brothers: John Crum of Chuckey, Paul Sims of North Carolina, and James Earl Shelton of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; a very special uncle: the Rev. Melvin Shelton Jr. of Greeneville; his special aunts: Lovada Chandley, Vera Lee Dixon, Nilla Mae Davis, Evelyn Murdock, Beth Crum, and June Tweed; a very special cousin: Ray Britt; and two special friends: Jim Ruble and Margaret Church.
He was preceded in death by a grandson: Jeremy Rimer; his mother: Charlotte Fay Park; a sister: Joanne Shelton; and three brothers: Teddy Shelton, Melvin Shelton, and Donald Lee Shelton.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.
Interment will follow in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brad Tweed, Brock Church, Wayne Dixon, Chris Stills, Robert Paul Armitage, and Steve Brotherton.
