He was a retired farmer and cattleman.
Mr. Ayers was a member of Warrensburg Baptist Church, as well as Smokey Mountain Fox Hunters Association, Greene County Fox Hunters Association, and Warrensburg Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his daughter: April Bryant of Bybee, Tennessee; stepchildren and spouses: Darlene and Rick Sentelle and Louis and Donna Gentry; two grandchildren: Fletcher and Jesse Bryant of Bybee, Tennessee; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bill and Serita Bible of Newport, Bobbie and Jeff Cox of Mosheim, June Jarrell of Warrensburg; other special family members and friends; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Jim and Edna Bible Ayers and was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Bible Ayers; a brother, Frank Ayers; two sisters, Margaret Ayers and Ruth Brown; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jane and Don Weems and Neva and Forrest Madron.
The body is at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home, where it will remain until time to be taken to the church 30 minutes preceding the service. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Warrensburg Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.
Interment will follow in Warrensburg Methodist Cemetery.
His pallbearers will be Jeffery Greenlee, Mark Greenlee, Jonathan Greenlee, Danny Greenlee, Brian Cox, Benjie Cox, Barry Jarrell, and Robert Lloyd Smelcer.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Ayers to the Warrensburg Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of Janie Solomon, 1849 Bewley Chapel Road, Mosheim, TN 37818.
