After graduating from St. James High School, Carrol attended the Knoxville Business College and graduated in May, 1960. While there, she passed the civil service examination before traveling to Washington, D.C. She accepted a position with the General Service Administration as a secretary/stenographer. She worked there until the birth of her first child. She was a member of various book clubs and bridge clubs. She was a member and avid golfer at the Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, Maryland, until she moved back to Greeneville, Tennessee in 2008. She then joined the Link Hills Country Club, where she played a few golf tournaments for them prior to her illness, which forced her to give up her golfing career.
She is survived by her husband: Jack Ednes; son: Robert C. Lynham; daughter, Kimberly A. Lynham; step-sons: Chris and Eric Edens; daughter: Ruthie Edens (Jerry) Suter; step-grandsons: Sam and Will Suter; sisters: June, Wanzie, Portia, Sandy, and Nadean; brother-in-law: Dave; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carrol was preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Swanee Fillers, and her first husband, Charles Lynham.
The family extends a special thanks to her very loving and caring friends and caregivers, Linda Humphreys and Helen Williams.
