He retired from Philips/Magnavox with 35 years of service and was also a farmer.
Mr. Shipley was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church.
He was a mason of Beersheba Masonic Lodge. and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Imogene Renner Shipley; son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Heather Shipley of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Doug Collins of Knoxville; two grandsons: Matthew and Ben Collins of Knoxville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ralph and Janice Shipley of Jonesborough and Walter and Bonnie Shipley of Greeneville; sister: Montie Hayes of Greeneville; sister-in-law: Juanita Scott of Greeneville; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dwight and Sandra Renner.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Joe Shipley; parents, Hubert and Katie Rollins Shipley; sisters: Gladys Shipley, Anna Reaves, and Mary Alice Justis; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Hayes, Joy Justis, and Jacob Reaves; sister-in-law: Wanda Shipley; and sister-in-law and husband: Elizabeth and Harry Shiflet.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sterling Nelson and Rev. Larry Moore officiating.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Scott, Todd Shipley, Mike Hayes, David Shipley, Clay Hepburn, Curtis Wilhoit, and Nathan Shiflet.
