Bobby attended Cedar Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
He served for 38 years in the military and was very proud of it. He served two tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He then served in the 844th Engineers and the 776th Maintenance Company. He loved his military life. He retired from the army in 2006.
Bobby was very well liked by everyone he knew and everyone in his community of Cedar Creek. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He loved to joke around and laugh all the time.
Survivors include a brother: David Yates; daughters and sons-in-law: Melinda and Dr. Paul Fox, Shawmarie and Dewey Hicks, Ashley Little and Nicole Matherly; grandchildren: Courteney Squibb, Seana Dawson and spouse Josh, Kent Fox and spouse April; six great grandchildren; and special friends: John Gouge, Bill Casey, and all his military buddies.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years: Cora Lea Foster Matherly; his sister: Linda Matherly Hammons; and his mother: Louise Matherly Yates.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm -8pm Saturday and 1pm-2pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Daugherty officiating.
Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Fox, Dewey Hicks, Bill Casey, Nick Crum, Kent Fox, and Ross Squibb.
