He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
A member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, he attended faithfully as long as his health permitted.
He was a member of Limestone Arcana Lodge No. 489, F&AM, for 55 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Margaret Dunbar Greenway; one son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Roberta "Bobbie" Greenway of Greeneville; one daughter and son-in-law: Diane (Greenway) and Michael Hope of South Central; six grandchildren and their spouses: Michael Lee Hope and Michelle Hope, both of South Central, Thomas and Carrie Greenway of Franklin, Roberta (Greenway) and Kevin Allen of Greeneville, Elizabeth (Greenway) and Nathan Lybarger of Nashville, and William and Tosha Greenway of Franklin; six great-grandchildren: Matthew, Garren and Samuel Allen of Greeneville, Samuel and Caeden Greenway of Franklin, and Ava Belle Lybarger of Nashville; a sister: Naomi Broyles of South Central; a sister-in-law: Shirley Greenway of Burton, Ohio; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Connie and Charlie Cobble of Greeneville and Linda and Bill Fox of Stuart, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter "Joe" and Kate Greenway of South Central; a brother: Walter Gay Greenway of Burton, Ohio; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank and Lillian Dunbar of South Central; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Clyta Mae and Eual Fellers of Hollywood, Fla.; and a brother-in-law: Elden Broyles, and niece: Vivian Broyles, both of South Central.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Arcana Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel following the visitation.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty FWB Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Terry Bailey will officiate with opening remarks by Kernie Moses.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Cobble, Jonathan Southerland, David Southerland, Drew Bailey, James Burgess, Jimmy Hope, Walter Greenway, and Gary Stanton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Tarlton, Walter Armstrong, Dr. Thomas Beckner, Allison Lynch, Susong Pharmacy employees, and the members of his Sunday School class.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his caregivers: Rachel Estep, Virginia Perkins, Brian Hensley, Ashley Hoss, and the staffs of Gentiva Group and Caris Health Care.
