He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Moose Lodge.
The family stated he worked hard his whole life. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Avery is survived by two sons, Robert Steven Banks and Avery Ellsworth Banks, Jr. and special friend, April Bishop; grandchildren, Jordan Banks, Matthew Banks, and Katie Donahue; great grandchildren, Arthur Banks and Valerie Banks and a special friend, Lynn Banks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Barbara Jane Banks.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 10 am to 10:30 am.
Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Baileyton at 11 am following the visitation.
Pallbearers are family and friends.
