IN THE CARE OF
Hopkins - Rector Funeral Home
Robert Austin Miller, 92, of Speedway, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at I.U. Health West Hospital in Avon.
Robert was born in Park County on March 4, 1931, the son of Willard A. and Dorotha N. (Neff) Miller, and was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Mr. Miller proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Tool and Die Maker for 41 years with Allison Division of General Motors, retiring from Plant 8 in 1991. After retirement Robert worked for 20 years with Marion County Fish and Game as a groundskeeper. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed traveling, and playing cards, but his favorite thing to do was eating. You dare not touch his plate if he had a fork in his hand. He loved to work with his hands. He was a wood worker and leather crafter, and enjoyed building and deconstructing things. But, most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Marilyn Miller; five children, David Miller, (Sue), Diana Burton, Donna Medearis, (Mark), Darrell Miller, and Edward Miller; 12 grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Miller, (Marge), a sister-in-law, Louise Miller; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Geraldine Moore; a brother, Larry Miller; and a wife, Martha Miller.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clinton Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
