Michael Ray Phipps, 75, of Greencastle passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Lafayette on February 2, 1946, the son of Homer and Estella (Cole) Phipps, and was a graduate of Van Buren High School.
Mr. Phipps was a truck driver for over 40 years, and drove for Ruan Trucking and Schwerman Trucking and the State of Indiana. He was a lifetime member of the Greencastle American Legion, VFW in Mooresville, and the 40 & 8 in Crawfordsville.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Rosemary Phipps; two daughters, Sondra Clark, and Crystal Clark, (husband-Russell Roberts); a brother, Norman Phipps, (wife-Janie); three sisters, Elsie Ooley, Carrie Hartman and Mary Ann Turner, (husband-Raymond); eight grandchildren, Amber, Marlena, Michael, Caitlin, Dakota, Cheyenna, Kaylee, and Shelby; sixteen great-grandchildren; his father-in-law, Glen Leslie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Homer, Frank, Floyd, and James Phipps; a sister Ocie Staggs; and his mother-in-law, Vera Leslie.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to time of service of service on Saturday.
