James Richard McMillan

James R. McMillan, 88, of Greencastle passed away at his home Saturday, February 23, 2020. He was born in Indianapolis on April 13, 1931, the son of Lossan V and Nell (Wilson) McMillan. He married Doris Fletcher on May 28, 1954. She preceded him in death on November 21, 1999. Together they owned and operated McMillan Carpets for more than 30 years. Indeed, he continued to install flooring into his late 70’s. Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict, joining the Marine Corps in 1952, and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp Reserve on January 2, 1960. He was an avid Pilot and owned various planes through the years. His pride and joy was a twin engine Piper Comanche that he co-owned with Dr. James Johnson. The 2 of them flew multiple humanitarian missions to the Caribbean Islands. He is survived by 2 sisters, Joyce Jones of Greencastle, and Martha Garcia of Fort Worth Texas and Nieces and Nephews. The family will schedule an interment in Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date. There will be no Visitation per his wishes.
