James Thomas Bastian

James Thomas Bastian, 69, of Greencastle passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
James was born in Berea, Ohio on August 21, 1949, the son of Robert and Ruth Ann Bastian, and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. He attended college at Penn State University for two years.
Mr. Bastian had worked at B and W Steel Corporation for 10 years then worked at Evergreen for 2 years before working as a Manager for Charming Shops for 28 years. When Charming Shops changed to Ascena Retail he continued his employment there until his retirement in 2016. Even after retirement James continued to work for the Department of Natural Resources until his health forced him to stop. James was a member of Moose Lodge #1592, Elks Lodge #1077, and American Legion Post #58. He was an avid Steelers fan, and loved to play golf and spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years Jerri Bastian; six children Amber Hudspath, (Jamie), Lisa Affori, (Saif), Kelli Parr, (Robert), Shelli York, (Rick), Amber Taylor, (Joe) and Trevor Teal; twelve grandchildren, Devon, Joy, Maci, Nate, Cameron, Isaiah, Zach, Bree, Madison, Josh, Brooke, and Brittney; a great-granddaughter, Adalynn; a sister, LuAnne Massey, (John); two brothers, Thomas and Robert Bastian; a niece, Katie; a nephew, Joe and a special friend, Karen Bastian.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held after the visitation at the Moose Lodge from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. A cremation will take place at a later date.
