Gayle Harlene Brown

Gayle was born in Greencastle on December 5, 1931, the daughter of Clifton Kendrick and Bessie Olive (Woodworth) Priest, and was a graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Mrs. Brown worked for over 20 years as a Switchboard Operator for DePauw University. She attended First Baptist Church of Greencastle, and was a member of the Greencastle American Legion Post 58, Moose Lodge #1592 and VFW Post 1550.

Survivors include three children, Teresa Vaughan, (husband-Larry), Greencastle, Kevin Brown, (wife-Parivash), Carmel, and Myra Manny (husband-Floyd), Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Doyne Priest; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John C. Brown; a son, Darwin Scott Brown; two brothers, Carroll and Wayne Priest; and a sister Joy Cooper.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
