Betty Joan Rissler

Betty Joan Rissler, 93, of Greencastle, formerly of Reelsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Born April 1, 1929 in Bicknell, she was the daughter of Ross and Bessie (VanCleve) Torr. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1947”.
Joan married Bob Rissler on November 30, 1951, sharing 65 years as a devoted farm wife on their family farm. She had also worked at Reelsville Elementary School and First Citizens Bank in Greencastle.
She was a lifelong member of Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church having served as a youth sponsor, Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and on several church committees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Glenn Torr; and sisters, Irene Byers, Marie Burris, and Virginia Whitaker.
Joan is survived by her children, Judy (husband, John) Off and Mike (wife, Sandy) Rissler; grandchildren, Kristen (husband, John) Barlow, Kelsey Rissler, Justin (wife, Stacey), and Jessica (husband, Zach) McKeever; great grandchildren, Parker & Grayson McKeever and Palmer & Collins Off; several nieces and nephews and the many friends she made while living at Asbury Towers in her final years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 20th at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joan to the Big Walnut Baptist Church Scholarship Fund P. O. Box 22 Reelsville, IN. 46171.
