William H. Kahler, 77, of Greeley, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley.
He was born to Howard and Adelyne Kahler on June 24, 1937 in Winside, NE. Bill first moved to Greeley in 1954 and later graduated from Greeley High School in 1956. After graduation he joined the Navy, serving aboard the USS Helena until his honorable discharge in 1960. Bill attended CSU in Fort Collins for one year then moved to Cheyenne, WY where he lived for 7 years. On April 1, 1962 he married Patricia Hettinger in Greeley. He started his career in banking in Cheyenne and eventually owned and operated Kahler’s Appliance in Greeley.
Bill was passionate about tennis and was also an avid Bronco fan holding season tickets for many years making the drive from Cheyenne to Denver to attend the games. He enjoyed many weekend trips to the mountains where he liked to fish and spend time with his family.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks, belonged to the Kiwanis Club, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his wife Patricia Kahler of Greeley; son Jeff Kahler and his wife Rachel of Broadlands, VA; daughter Amy Rice and her husband Scott of Parker, CO; sister Carolyn Figal and her son Mike Figal and his wife Tammie; and four grandchildren, Jack Kahler, Tori Kahler, Cassie Rice and Mitchell Rice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law and nephew.
Inurment service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 27, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1865 14 Ave., Greeley, CO, with a reception immediately following.
