He was born October 12, 1934 in Ault, Colorado to Ascencion and Virginia (Ramos) Martinez.
On April 18, 1953, he married Mary C. Avila in Greeley.
He attended school in Ault and lived there until recently. He was a farm laborer for many years, followed by Kodak of Colorado, from where he retired.
Max was a member of St. Mary's Mission in Ault. He was devoted in his Catholic faith.
He enjoyed going to the mountains and fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop and watching the Colorado Rockies.
Survivors are his children, Rose (John) Gallegos of Laramie, Wyoming, Cora (Dave) Rogakis of Windsor, Colorado, Tommy Martinez of Greeley, Colorado and Max Jr. II (Gloria) of Severance, Colorado; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by too many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins to list, who love him and will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Esther, Petra "Pat", Agnes and Patricia, brothers, Gregorio and Frank Flores and his children, Rudy J. Martinez and Diane Godinez.
A Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022 with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 267 East 4th Street, Ault. Interment to follow at Ault Cemetery.
