Mary Ann Conlin

Mary Ann Conlin, age 89, of LaSalle, Colorado died at home surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2023. She was born on July 16, 1933 in LaSalle to German-Russian immigrant parents Robert and Mary (Renke) Schmidt. With three big brothers, she grew up playing baseball and working on the farm. She attended the LaSalle and Big Bend schools, then graduated from College High in 1951. In 1952 she married James E. Conlin and the couple had three children. When her children started school, Mary Ann worked as the LaSalle Elementary School secretary for eight years. She was then employed as a supervisor with the Weld County Department of Social Services until her retirement in 1987. Mary Ann bowled with a group of friends for many years, tied her own flies for fly fishing in mountain streams, was an excellent seamstress, and grew the best tomatoes. She enjoyed walking, reading, playing cards, and watching the birds she fed. To her granddaughters she was a much-loved Grams. After their retirement, Mary Ann and Jim traveled full-time throughout the US, including spending six weeks in Alaska one summer. They enjoyed fishing in Mexico and Canada with friends and took an extended trip to Australia and New Zealand. They lived in Arizona for a number or years before returning to their home near LaSalle in 2004.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert (Bud), Richard, and Roy (Duke) Schmidt. She is survived by Jim, her husband of 70 years; children Jody (Alan) Burke, Jennifer (William) Murray, and John (Barb) Conlin, granddaughters Jessica (Murray) Grabowski, Jamie (Murray) Flores, and Kelsy Burke-Lozier; step-grandsons Matt Murray and Sean Donahue; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM at Allnutt Macy Chapel. A Reception will immediately follow the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial Service will follow the Reception at 1:00 PM at Mizpah Cemetery, 12837 WCR 32, Platteville, CO 80651.
