He was born on August 22, 1940 to Ernest (Ernie) and Lura (Hutcheson) Hager in Ault, Colorado. He was the first of 5 children. Jim grew up in the Greeley area where he graduated from Greeley High School. Shortly after graduation, he married Maxine Croissant in LaSalle, CO.
Jim worked for Monfort’s Packing House right out of high school and worked there for 20 years. After leaving Montfort’s, he worked at various jobs but always staying in the Greeley area. Jim was a member of the Greeley First Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his 3 children, a son, Trent of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a daughter, Debra Cawley of Greeley and another daughter Diana Meyer of Eaton, brothers, Gerald (Jerry) Hager of Fort Collins, Danny (Dan) Hager of Greeley, Glenn Hager of Loveland, and sister Priscilla Judge of Greeley. Jim also had 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. both at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. 16th St., Greeley. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
